Welcome to the Social Auditor Standards Wiki

Verité and CREA are facilitating the development of standards for the knowledge, skills, and competencies of social auditors for a baseline auditor training standard. The US Department of State's Office of International Labor Affairs and Corporate Social Responsibility supports the Project, which runs from January 2008 – June 2010. This wiki's goal is to bring together stakeholders to collaboratively develop standards for the knowledge and skills of baseline social auditors. It is important to note that this Program's goal is not to create standards for training or create an institution to oversee the Standards. Our role is simply facilitating discussion on these matters.

Survey on Social Auditor Training and Standards Institutionalization

The online survey on social auditor training and standards institutionalization took place from February to March 2010 and yielded much useful discussion regarding training, assessment and testing, certification and recertification, and institutionalizations of the social auditor standards. Download the Social Auditor Training and Institutionalization Survey Summary. We seek your input to further clarify how to best conduct training and institutionalization of the social auditor standards. Comment on Training and Institutionalization

Standards for the Knowledge and Skills of Social Auditors Released on October 15, 2009

After more than a year of research and public consultation and dialogue, Verité and CREA released the Standards for the Knowledge and Skills of Social Auditors, which provide a benchmark to assist social auditor training organizations to identify what social auditors should know at the foundational level. The Social Auditor Standards Program developed these standards through the use of research, surveys, interviews, and multi-stakeholder dialogue and engagement processes. These Standards comprise Stage I of the Program, while Stage II (see survey above) focuses on issues related to teaching, testing and institutionalization of these standards.
